Following a long period of inaction patriots from far and wide joined in a dignified and respectfull commemoration to Alwyn Jones and George Taylor.
This marked the 40 year anniversary of their deaths and fittingly it was a black flag parade through the town. Led magnifficently by the Liverpool Irish Patriots RFB the 100+ strong massed rank followd the thunderous and rousing beats of the drums and flutes past a receptive crowd of onlookers and finished stood silent and respectful at their destination.
There followed a short service in Eglwys Mynydd Seion. Wreaths were laid and fitting speeches made by Olwen Leavold Cor Cochion Cymru, Dermot Kelly Irish republican Movement and I read out a speech from the Bard Dewi Prsor (who i'd asked to write a poem or piece for the event). extracts from these below.
A brief silence was observed and the anthem closed the day as far as the parade was concerned.
Activities moved onto the Bee Hotel where entertainment was laid on by the Liverpool IRPRFB, Cambria Band, and the ever rocking Danny Gruff
The night time was passed in a Celtic Nations Camp with a bonfire music and socialicing with new and old friends.
May i take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved for your hard work and to thank everyone who participated or conrtibuted for your time and dedication
THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING RESPECTFULL AND DIGNIFIED AND FOR REMEMBERING
Adam Phillips
Speech extracts-
Dermot Kelly (adaption of Padraig Pearse famous graveside oration) "Life springs from death; and from the graves of patriot men and women spring living nations. The Defenders of this Realm have worked well in secret and in the open. They think that they have pacified Cymru. They think that they have purchased half of us and intimidated the other half. They think that they have foreseen everything, think that they have provided against everything; but, the fools, the fools, the fools! — They have left us Patriot dead and while Cymru holds these graves Cymru unfree shall never be at peace"
